the 60's I was not hired at a club to play my music because I was not in the musicians union. So I joined that union. I got the job but it was only good for a few weeks. They usually play Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center twice a year, and maybe a gig or two at the Kennedy Center when they're in DC for lunch with Bill and Hilary. Furthermore, with music publishers, talent bookers, and A&R men ringing them up day and night, it's a wonder that folk musicians get any sleep at all.

You seem to view the supply of great musicians as very large, with many equally great musicians able to take their place. Good point. Pat Metheny on Kenny G (long but insightful)
He is an incredible musician and some day I'd love to play music with any of those guys. We were just starting Incubus when we were also getting into Phish. Their CDs sales are so minimal compared to their live show, but they are going to be known as one of the biggest bands out there.

The RIAA can keep their music..they can produce it all they wish..but bands out there now who want to be heard are going to use the internet to do it....and that will be the wave of the near future. People may just lose interest in the RIAA's product any way. All you are worried about son....is your own bank
