Hi All:
Has anyone gotten Line6 GuitarPort and/or Adobe Audition to install (or any other software that uses this kind of technology --> low latency Audio Drivers --> WDM/ASIO)? I've been running Vista B2 with very few problems on a Dell Inspiron 8500, but these just don't want to install. The installer just quits (yes, I've tried compatibility mode etc).
Just curious what experiences others have had with this kind of software.
Thx&Rgds, Marcus.

Any Musicians out there?
As this is a Beta OS, there ought to be errors in programs. I believe the installer have a bug. You should just report errors to Microsoft, and this problem would be solved in the next build or on the final version.

Thanks -Tom

Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind, I have a few more questions about Vista on the 8500:
-What are your other specs? (memory, processor) (I have 512MB RAM - looking to probably upgrade to 1GB - & 2.4 GHz)
-What driver are you using for the vid card?
-Are you having many other problems finding/installing drivers?
-Did you do a fresh install or did you upgrade?
.....hmmmm... anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks a lot for your help! It's greatly appreciated!

Hi Tom:
no, don't mind at all. sorry for responding so late - I just lurk here ... :)
+ Inspiron 8500; 1GB, Dell Truemobile 1300 Wireless, Firewire etc.. + Clean install on separate Harddrive (7200rpm) + System came up with Standard VGA, then installed GF4200 Driver via WIndowsupdate + For some reason the installer loaded Intel Audio Drivers and not the SigmaTel (didn't really bother, since it's working fine ...) + Installed Alps Touchpad Driver (XP Version) via inf file - Installer won't work + Wireless came right up - no problems whatsoever + Only application I've (successfully - see original reason for thread) installed so far is Office 2007 + Battery performance is !!DISMAL!! + Overall performance is just like XP, no Aero though
Too bad the applications won't install. I'd really like to test the system in everyday use. I'm surprised there's no info on these issues. I think I've traced the problem to some kind of permissions/file protection issue but there aren't really a whole lot of logs anywhere ...

Thank you very much for the info! I'm sorry that I turned this thread into the unofficial Dell Inspiron 8500 Vista thread :o) I hope that somebody answers your original post!
